Since 1983, Altfest Personal Wealth Management has helped mental health professionals like you manage their investments and plan for their retirement. In addition, we are committed to understanding the specific needs of mental health professionals and providing financial education to the community.
At Altfest Personal Wealth Management, we want to help you meet your goals. We understand that each professional's lifestyle requires distinct consideration and planning; that's why we provide services with a personal touch, whether through managing investments or providing advanced financial planning guidance. We create well diversified portfolios based on your tolerance for risk, help you stay on track to achieve the retirement you desire, counsel on how to maximize your Social Security benefits, reduce financial risk, plan for real estate purchases and much more.
As an objective, strictly fee-only firm, we do not accept commissions and only work in our clients' best interests.
Management of Your Personal and Retirement Investments
Our experienced investment team, led by Lew Altfest, Ph.D., CFA, CFP®, will invest your money across a wide array of asset classes, creating diversified portfolios of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
Your investment accounts will be held with a third-party custodian, such as Charles Schwab or TD Ameritrade.
TPM™ stands for Total Portfolio Management, our proprietary investment and financial planning tool that reflects the holistic approach we will apply to your financial life. It is an innovation in the field of portfolio construction that reflects our ongoing research, ties to academia, and commitment to moving the profession forward.
We will create a plan for your financial independence, taking into account your special goals, needs, and circumstances, including a strategy for monetizing the value of your practice, if applicable.
We can help you determine how much life insurance you need to protect your spouse and children, and how much disability insurance may be appropriate given your specific situation. We can discuss the pros and cons of long-term care insurance. As fee-only advisors, we receive no commission on any insurance products, so you can be sure that the recommendations we make to you are based solely on what we believe is in your best interests.
Estate planning is a moving target. As your assets increase, your family evolves, and the laws change, your estate plan needs to change as well. We will help you coordinate your estate plan with your retirement plan, investment approach, charitable goals, and overall tax plan to help ensure that you and your heirs get the most out of your assets. Where appropriate, we can introduce you to estate attorneys who have earned our trust over the years.
Creating a Workplace Retirement Plan
Mental health professionals in private practice have much more choice over the type of workplace retirement plan and the amount they can annually contribute (tax-deferred) than regular employees of a company. Based on the objective and financial well-being of your practice, we can help you determine and establish the workplace retirement plan that is most beneficial to you.
