Community Involvement

We, at Altfest Personal Wealth ManagementSM, take great pride and gain great satisfaction from helping out those who have need for financial advice but don’t have the means for expert help. We take part in pro bono financial planning projects through various organizations and media outlets. Some recent projects include:

  • The Financial Planning Association’s Personal Financial Fitness Workshop, part of Financial Planning Week;
  • The Money Bus, a combined venture of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), TD Ameritrade and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance that provides free financial advice;
  • The New York Daily News Money Line, a phone-a-thon for people who need advice with their financial affairs;
  • JumpStart Your Retirement Days, an Internet based venture between NAPFA and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

We also provide pro bono help through local community groups, religious organizations and public libraries. In addition, we contribute to various charities in and around the area.

In 2007, The Dr. Lewis J. Altfest Certified Financial Planner® Endowed Scholarship Fund was established at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business, in connection with Lew’s receiving the coveted 2007 Charles R. Schwab Impact Award®. The scholarship goes towards paying for the education of accomplished students interested in a career in personal finance.
