Altfest Personal Wealth Management is proud to announce that Karen C. Altfest was honored with the Founder Award at Yorkville Common Pantry's (YCP)* annual Fill the Bag benefit dinner on March 7, 2013, in New York City.
Here is what Yorkville Common Pantry has to say about Karen and the Founder Award:
"Dr. Karen C. Altfest was instrumental in founding the Yorkville Common Pantry in 1979, taking a lead in the earliest volunteer efforts and serving as our first President and then as first Board Chair. Karen has given hundreds of hours of her time as a volunteer and brought invaluable skills, as well as hundreds of friends to the organization. To this day she remains a tireless supporter and inspiration. In 2012, Karen was given the Community Leadership Award by Invest in Others for her work on behalf of YCP. Without her vision and tireless determination, the Yorkville Common Pantry would not have come into being.
As a Principal Advisor and Executive Vice President of Client Relations for Altfest Personal Wealth Management, Karen brings years of financial knowledge and expertise to the firm's clients on a variety of investment and financial planning issues. She is frequently a speaker on the subject of women and money and conducts educational seminars for recent widows and people looking to retire. Her Financially Savvy WomanTM programs, including the Women's Financial $paTM, are popular with clients. She is often interviewed by the media and is the author of the book Keeping Clients for Life published by John Wiley & Sons in 2001. Worth magazine named Karen one of the "Best Financial Advisers" in the United States. She received her Ph.D. in history from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
We have created the Founder Award to honor Dr. Karen C. Altfest for her invaluable contribution to YCP and the community it serves."
The Fill the Bag benefit dinner was an outstanding success, grossing the greatest amount ever for a single YCP event.
